Society’s heart beats to a bass line in a sellout song.
Who are you to tell me what is right and what is wrong?
I’ve always lived without a compass and tried to follow the wildest winds,
And I’ve tried hard to patiently wait to see what’s around the bend,
But the battle is real and I ain’t gonna lie,
A large part of me conformed before I was able to open my eyes,
And pick up a pen and make sense of the creature within,
To unbecome and be a man that to me makes sense…
Not what you say I should, but who I choose to be,
Unbound by the chains of their terms and ultimately free.
I was always afraid of pain and now I choose to bleed,
Because an honest poet bleeds the deepest darkest shades of honesty,
And could anything other than that really be important,
I believe no, and now I wage war to be able to show that.
So judge me as you will, deny me my moment,
It won’t slow me down, it will only make me more potent…
Amen Brad. I’m living this right now.
